What if the gruesome killings plaguing the quiet town of Hollow Hills were not the handiwork of a human, but something far more sinister and malevolent?

When Barker Davis stumbles into Hollow Hills one fateful day, drenched in blood from head to toe, the tight-knit community hastily points fingers at the reclusive toymaker dwelling deep within the ominous woods nearby. However, the arrest of the toymaker uncovers a tangle of questions rather than any concrete answers.

As the bloodshed continues in this horror mystery, the town teeters on the brink of madness. Their nightmare has only just begun.

Now, it falls upon Sinclair Redman to navigate this tapestry of horror, pulling the strings of truth and deception to unearth the chilling secrets hidden within Hollow Hills. Only by unlocking these grim mysteries can he hope to put an end to the rising body count that threatens to spiral out of control.
In this fast-paced small-town horror novel, fans of iconic horror entities like Annabelle and Chucky will be drawn into a fast-paced, nightmarish world that will keep them on the edge of their seats. A must-read for aficionados of chilling tales by authors such as Grady Hendrix, Josh Malerman, Jonathan Janz, and Todd Keisling's hair-raising
Devil's Creek.

Expertly spun horror tale
After experiencing a horrific and tragic loss, Sinclair moves to a small town for a fresh start, taking up the deputy badge under his friend and old boss Johnny. Mind crippled by nightmares of his loss, Sinclair pushes through the day-to-day trying to figure out how to move forward. Until tragedy and horror strikes the small town, where dolls and puppets are found strung up in odd places and Johnny and everyone in town is clearly not telling Sinclair everything. Can he wrap his mind around the unimaginable and unearth the town’s secrets to save it? As a kid who grew up hate-loving the Goosebumps tale “A Scarecrow Walks at Midnight,” I have always been ESPECIALLY creeped out by anything that looks and acts like a human when it shouldn’t! Thus, String Me Up had me on board from the premise. What I didn’t expect to find is characters so realistic they hopped off the page. I was able to put so much of myself into Sinclair, feeling what he felt. An expertly spun horror tale filled with feeling and depth? That’s a five-star read for me. I absolutely look forward to reading more from William Sterling!!

Creepy dolls are one of my least favorite horror tropes but this book was fantastic. It helped that the dolls don’t really appear until the third act. What we get is a slow burn mystery filled with black magic dread building up to an explosive conclusion. As with all great books, the characters are what make this story resonate. I loved Sinclair and his journey kept me tearing through the pages to find out what would happen to him. Sterling does a stellar job at getting us inside Sinclair’s head so we really understand him and his anguish, as well as providing witty asides that we can all relate to. The themes all TIE TOGETHER (do I get bonus points for this pun?) nicely in a neat little bow and there are lines of poignant prose from this book that have profound things to say about the human condition and that’ll stick with me. This is Sterling at his best.

Just when I thought I might know where this was going, another twist was thrown in. I love how this author always manages to keep me on my toes. In this book, we get the William Sterling signatures of quick witted characters, dialogue that gaslights the characters into gaslighting YOU that everything is fine, and creative, gruesome, grit-your-teeth kills.

It starts with a troubled main character who is just trying to survive despite everything the world is throwing at him, and quickly spirals into hell freezing over in a small town. The build of the main character from the beginning drew me in; not only to care about him and his journey, but root for him despite all the times I wanted to yell through the book at him for making questionable choices. This story had so many pieces to the puzzle I don't understand how it was managed to be packed into a 200 page book. It has the quaint town setting, a character fighting his own demons, every creepy doll-like thing you can imagine, a haunted house (?), political corruption, peacocks, and about a million other things I won't spoil for you.

I will happily read anything this author writes because it is always so imaginative and is fun (read: horrifying) to be on the ride he creates.

This book certainly did its job considering I had a nightmare after finishing it which involved being blockaded inside my home by puppets - Happy reading!!!

We are not supposed to judge a book by its cover, which is solid advice. However, this story is even more creepy than the cover. The author takes a well written main character and throws him into an old but great trope: a seemingly perfect small town. Then all hell breaks loose. It's the horror version of Pleasantville that we all wanted!

This was an interesting read, and one I very much enjoyed. Sinclair was looking for a fresh start in a small town. It appeared to be like any other small town which was captured very well. It had some creepy dolls, revenge, a small town, and some secrets that may have been better to stay buried. I loved how it ended too. It was definitely a little weird, but a really good story.

The cover of this book really caught my eye & then the book description really pulled me in.

This is my first time reading anything by this author. Overall, the book wasn't bad but on that same note the horror part / killers weren't all that surprising. That whole part has been done many times before in books & even movies. So, it wasn't really shocking, scary or original.

The book for the most part was predictable, with not a whole lot of thrills & chills type of stuff.

I really wish the author had went into more details on what actually happened to Sinclair Redford's wife (Claire) & son (Max). It was mentioned but I needed more. I feel like a flashback type of scene for the day they died would of been beneficial to the book to get a real feel for how Sinclair was feeling over the tragedy / the loss. Why wasn't he there? Who found them? What cause their deaths? I needed details, not just the glossed over version.

The book starts out with Sinclair arriving at his new house in Hollow Hills. He's struggling with his grief over the loss of his family & what seems to be depression. It was like he was trying to run away from that pain but then realized that where ever he went that pain, that grief was still going to be there. A new house in a new location wasn't going to change that.

Sinclair has a new job as well, working as a Sheriff's Deputy for his old friend Johnny. Johnny is the Sheriff. As Johnny takes Sinclair around town showing him different places & introducing him to the residents there. Sinclair notices that something just doesn't seem / feel right about this whole town & some of the people in it.
